About Us
The RU-N Metaverse Club is dedicated to engaging and promoting student and community involvement within the metaverse while fostering education, innovation, and collaboration across the Rutgers University-Newark campus. The Metaverse Club recognizes the isolation of RBS from what many consider to be “main campus”. Our organization hopes to serve as a bridge that connects students from Rutgers Business School to the other academic schools on the Rutgers - Newark campus. The Metaverse Club recognizes that the merging of business, technology, and creative thinking is essential for navigating the evolving digital landscape. Our mission is the commitment to bringing light to emerging technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, virtual reality, cryptocurrencies, and other Web3 platforms. We recognize that there is a significant knowledge gap and stigma surrounding these technologies among both students and faculty. Through educational panels, workshops, and hands-on demonstrations, we aim to transform the apprehension among students into understanding and a more informed student body. Our events are not specifically designed to showcase technology, but also to question its ethics, security concerns, and practical applications in an academic and professional context. The club prioritizes learning through our research initiative, which provides undergraduate students with opportunities typically reserved and considered for graduate-level study, such as masters or PhD programs. By having semester-long research projects, under the guidance of faculty advisors and participating in mock dissertation defenses, we offer members real experience in the world of academia and scholarly presentation. This emphasis on research distinguishes our organization by creating pathways for students to contribute meaningful work to the metaverse field while developing critical thinking and analytical skills that are transferrable to any career path.
