Dominican Talks (DT) is dedicated to preserving, celebrating, and amplifying the history, traditions, language, cuisine, music, and lived experiences of the Dominican Republic and the wider diaspora. As new generations grow outside of Quisqueya, DT ensures our community remains firmly tied to its roots while exploring the interconnected histories and cultures that shape the island. We are committed to creating an inclusive, safe, and empowering space that welcomes all students across the Rutgers-Newark community. Through intentional collaboration with Black, Afro-Latinx, Caribbean, LGBTQ+, immigrant, and historically underrepresented communities, DT bridges generational gaps, drives taboo yet essential discussions, and fosters academic, professional, and cultural excellence.
